Founded in 2002 by Marco Delgado and Nadine Fuchs, Delgado Fuchs is a Swiss collective based in Lausanne whose practice unfolds at the intersection of dance, visual arts and performance.
Delgado Fuchs creates situations that do not yet exist. Each project begins with a rule of the game, a material, an object, a costume, or an encounter. From these elements, the collective observes what these conditions make possible and how they transform the ways we move, perceive, and relate to one another. This attention to craftsmanship stems from a fascination with practices built over time: precise gestures, familiarised materials, and techniques that reveal a singular way of making.
The works of Delgado Fuchs are not discourses on the body. They create perceptual experiences. They invite the audience to enter into other forms of logic, without ever seeking to impose or explain them. The images that emerge do not seek to illustrate an idea: they arise from action, from the precision of the gesture, from the pleasure of play, and from the encounter between performers, materials and the gaze of the audience.
This artistic language is built upon a constant shift: shifting, transforming, playing. These gestures do not only apply to the body; they primarily address perception. The body is the tool. The gaze is the material. Beneath an apparent simplicity lies a rigorous artistic language in which precision makes freedom possible.
Through the body, Delgado Fuchs composes situations where the rules of reality subtly shift. Play, displacement, and a form of irreverence open a passage towards spaces where the unfamiliar becomes familiar and where reality gently slips into fiction. In Delgado Fuchs’ work, humor does not seek to desacralize; it opens a space in which the unexpected becomes possible.
Over the years, Delgado Fuchs has developed this practice through numerous collaborations with artists working across visual arts, music, scenography, design, fashion, and architecture. The collective has created more than twenty works, presented in theatres, festivals, museums and contemporary art spaces in Switzerland and across five continents, including CENTQUATRE-PARIS, ImPulsTanz (Vienna), the Aichi Triennale (Nagoya), Maison de la Danse (Lyon), Festival La Bâtie (Geneva) and Dancehouse (Melbourne).
